Cook a medieval feast!
Hoc Modo Fit is a cozy 2D point and click cooking game in which you discover the richness of European medieval cuisine. Through the eyes of Aleis, a teenager living in the 13th century, learn how to prepare different recipes as she begins working as a kitchen assistant for a rich family. From everyday meals to more complex and sophisticated dishes, choose wisely your ingredients and how you combine them. Otherwise, you may be fired.
Why this project?
Popular media often generalises medieval Europe as dirty and offering a poor alimentation. Hoc Modo Fit aims to deconstruct these ideas by offering an insight of medieval cuisine, its richness and diversity and showing how food is intimately tied to the life of the people preparing it.
The game
The game is made of 9 different levels with a total of 12 recipes to discover. Each recipe is punctuated by dialogues and mini-games that give some context and information about medieval cuisine from the 13th century.
In short
Hoc Modo Fit is the opportunity for me to share two of my passions: video games and history. I think a cozy medieval game with a historical perspective focusing on everyday life would be an interesting contribution to the cooking games genre.
